About the neighbourhood

The Mill House is located just outside a small hamlet called La Sauvetat- du-Dropt [1km]. It is also close to the touristic and beautiful bastide town of Eymet [4Km]. Both Bergerac and Marmande are a short drive away [30 mins]. This area is famous for its vineyards with multiple “degustation” places to sample the locally produced wines of Duras, Bergerac and Monbazillac. The famous wine regions of Bordeaux including St Emilion and Sauterne are within one hour's drive.

This special place is not isolated, being close to many tourist hotspots with local amenities within walking distance. For all the attractions the Dordogne has to offer, drive up to Bergerac then follow the river east towards the Vezere valley and Sarlat.

Getting around

We would recommend having a car to explore the area. However, it is an easy walk to the local shop in Sauvetat and there are pleasant walks around the property so you may not wish, or need, to drive every day.

We would also be happy to transport people to the local markets as we usually visit these ourselves.

Access

Please note that the Mill House is accessed over a causeway by foot and there are steep stairs to the bedrooms. Rose cottage is also accessed over the causeway, but the kitchen, living area, master bedroom and bathroom are all on the ground floor. You do not need to cross the causeway to reach our ground floor River View B&B room.

How to get here

Airport: Bergerac: 30.0 km

Railway: Bergerac: 31.0 km

Most people fly into Bergerac and hire a car there. However, you can reach the property in one hour thirty from Bordeaux airport. Bergerac also has a train station. Other airports with two hours drive include at increasing distance Brive-la-Gaillarde, Limoges, and Toulouse.

If you are flying into Bergerac or arriving by train we can shuttle you to and from the property. We'd ask for a contribution of 15 Euros for a pickup (to cover travel and parking) and 10 Euros for a drop-off. We can fit 4 people and two large cases in the car.
