In the summer months everywhere is alive with insects. The wild flowers attract many varieties of butterfly and bee. The big carpenter bees are a particular favourite. You always know when these are around from the deep loud buzzing they make.
Dragonflies and Damselflies swarm the river while the Kingfishers can be spotted flying around the mill house as they nest in the river banks.
In the evening a variety of bats appear. Leave the lights on in the mill house to attract the insects and you'll see an impressive display from the bats as they hunt at dusk.
You'll probably never see the owls but listen at night for the Barn Owl shrieks and the Tawny Owl hoots.
